Startup Idea: Automated Skill-based Project Assignment Software

Startup idea to develop a user-friendly job management system that auto-assigns tasks or projects based on employees’ skills and capabilities rather than requiring daily manual assignment by a manager. This software tool would increase efficiency and productivity, especially beneficial for firms routinely dealing with graphic tasks, writing jobs, proposals, and awards.

I work for an engineering firm and have quite a bit of duplication of people. Our group works on projects for other divisions throughout the company, particularly graphics jobs, writing jobs, proposals and awards. The job management system we use right now is a pain - it is very user heavy and requires a manager to go in every day and assign duties. Instead of doing that, and simplifying our jobs, it should really allow people to input their work responsibilities or the persons best qualities and skills and then just assign the jobs based on that, automatically. This is really not possible in the system that we use right now, but I think it would have applicability throughout any other company that does a lot of work based on peoples typical skill sets. I don't know what system does this now, or if there is one commercially available, but I am pretty sure that someone could build such a thing and make some good money. I am pretty sure that this could have been applicable in 4 of my last 5 jobs. I have tried, but it wasn't really possible with the system we have now and the lack of budget for IT services at our company.
