Startup Idea: Interactive Reporting Software Idea

Startup idea to develop an interactive reporting tool that provides easy documentation and annotation for known issues or changes in reported numbers. The tool would allow analysts to tag data points, predicting and explaining usual shifts without requiring manual intervention or separate tracking.

I work as an analyst for a large subscription based company. We have a hard time finding a way to create easily accessible documentation around known issues or changes in the numbers we report on.

A very basic example is that we know every December we see increased sales - there is no way in any of the reporting tools we use to put a tag on the December data points saying "expected increase due to holiday sales".

We have resorted to keeping a side calendar that we use to answer the constant questions of "what happened?!" when the teams we support are looking through their reports.

The only solution we've had was to track the data shifts in a separate calendar, though we still have to be the ones to provide the response to the teams using our reports.

I'd like to have our reports be as self-servicing as possible and for our team to be solely focused on looking in to new shifts or building out new reports instead of answering already answered questions.
