Startup Idea: Mobile Application for Engaging eSports Tournaments
A mobile application that will assist us in making live eSports tournaments more engaging for fans. The app will allow customers to access event schedules, special offers, tournament brackets, and other related information. It also allows them the ability to setup custom push notifications as reminders about match starts, results or any other event information. For tournament competitors, they have the ability to login to the app and access all the information relevant to their team. Schedules, tournament rules, event announcements, and custom push notifications are the main features on the team page. Event planners will benefit from the app in several ways. First they will be able to better communicate with fans and competitors through the apps notification features. Next, by customers having access to the schedules at all times it allows for a more efficient flow for the overall event. The final benefit of the application is the ability to monetize it by selling ad space.
The target customer for this application is the middle class 18-31 male, whose main hobby/sport is gaming. They are typically college students: they are very tech savvy, they spend well on their equipment and games, and are willing to travel to attend live events. Competitive gaming has a global fan base of over 160 million and growing. The eSports industry brought in over 200 million in revenue in 2016 and is predicted to reach over 1.5 million in 2020. This is one of the fastest growing and most fertile industries in the world right now. Sponsors dumped over 600 million dollars into eSports last year. With companies like Coca-Cola, Red-Bull, American Express, and Nissan all jumping in the proverbial ring. I tried creating a solution like this. My programming skills weren't up to par.
