Startup Idea: Audio-Video Synchronization Software for Freelance Videographers

Summary for idea #3818
Startup idea to develop a software that can sync video and audio material recorded separately, specifically catering to low-budget productions that use multiple cameras and audio recorders. The software should handle multiple overlapping tracks, provide timecodes for specific samples, and offer improved accuracy and reliability over the current synchronization feature in Final Cut Pro X.

I am a freelance videographer. One common issue at the beginning of the editing process is syncing video and audio material that was recorded separately - as is often the case with low-budget productions that use multiple cameras and audio recorders (especially because the advent of DSLRS has made good quality video very cheap, but the audio hardware is not developed for video needs). Using the last generation of editing software, e.g. Final Cut Pro 7 or before, editors would have to manually sync sound and video using a cue. Now, with Final Cut Pro X, there is a synchronization feature, but it is still weak - it can't handle syncing operations involving more than one piece of audio and video (real-life situations often have several overlapping tracks), and it's not very reliable. For editors who are accustomed to using older editing software, it's almost not worth it. Doesn't have to be a plug-in that works in the editor, even software that scans files for a specific sample and then provides timecode for its occurrence in each file would be helpful. Cheers.
