Startup Idea: Automated System for Lighting Project Planning

Summary for idea #3847
Startup idea to create an automation software that simplifies the process of counting individual lighting fixtures in a blue print. The software should be capable of receiving ITB forms, downloading plans, performing automatic takeoff, and generating a fully tabulated spreadsheet without manual intervention.

So I work in the commercial lighting supply industry for a company that does a ton of VE (value engineering) projects all over the country.

When we get new jobs (my part), we take what are essentially lighting blueprints and upload them to a program called Planswift. Then we proceed to manually count each individual lighting fixture on a large building project and then export that information into excel & create pivot tables, then transfer that to another spreadsheet form/template that we have created.

The ideal solution would be an automated system (similar to but more complex than an automated help desk), where the sales reps could send in ITB (invitations to bid) forms and have it download the plans and do the takeoff automatically, spitting out a finished spreadsheet with all the information tabulated correctly.
