Startup Idea: Data Visualization Tool for Logistics Management

Summary for idea #3853
Startup idea to develop a software that can visualize historical data related to truck migration patterns, truck load ratios, and notable events impacting capacity. This tool would help third party logistics companies to accurately price their shipments and make better strategic decisions.

I manage a third party logistics company of approximately 100 people, I have been with my company for 10 years, a manager for 7 years.

Our core business is small shipment of 6 pallets or less, our rates are based on negotiated contracts with carriers. We started brokering dedicated trucks for our customers, these rates are spot rates based on historial data from several sources.

This makes accurately pricing shipments difficult. We have access to historical data, but it cannot be difficult to use, it's raw numbers. If there was a way to visualize this data it would be extremely useful. Example, if there was a map of the US that showed truck migration patterns during a set period of time, historial truck to load ratios and events that may have affected the truck capacity such as natural disasters, strikes, produce season etc. This would be extremely valuable.

We currently subscribe to a service called DAT, we pay approximately $1000 per month for the data (it does include other services but the data is the primary function).
