Startup Idea: Automated EDI Modification and Submission Tool

Startup idea to develop an automated solution for modifying and submitting medical claims through Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) employing Python, regular expressions and databases. This system is aimed at reducing costs and eliminating errors caused by manual data entry and speeding up the payment process.

I work as a data analyst, have experience in programming language (python) and web development with Django (python framework), for a relatively new company ( 4 years).

At the beginning we were uploading manually our claims via ClearingHouse, they would do the EDI modifications needed to be ready for submission. This added cost and added extra time to receive payments.

The solution was to use python and regular expressions to do the much needed modifications, send the edi's straight to the payer notifying and keeping a log.

This help to save some money, eliminate the human error and speed the payment process. Yes, we also use databases to keep track and save daily logs in order to have everything organized.
