Startup Idea: Windows Session Save/Restore Application for Civil Engineers

Summary for idea #3885
Startup idea to develop a software solution which can save and restore a windows session for civil engineers working on multiple, simultaneous projects. This includes window positions and opened files, dedicated to certain named projects, making it easy to switch between tasks without being a resource hog.

I'm a civil engineer and work on multiple, simultaneous multi-day projects. Due to the nature of the work, it's best to work on one for a few hours then swtich to another, so it's not exactly multitasking. I may also have to close things down to go to a short meeting.

Usually for these projects, I have a number of windows open on multiple monitors. I may have two or three data files tiled for a quick view, a word document or powerpoint presentation open, and some sort of data analysis package, such as R or Excel. I've also usually got a command prompt somewhere and multiple explorer windows pointing to relevant directories.

I would really benefit from being able to have a save/restore state for all of that, including window positions. I can sort of fake it using multiple desktops, but there's two problems with that. Foremost is that it's a huge resource hog, second is that it's still kind of painful to manage.

In my ideal world, I'd have a taskbar button that I just click and either save my windows session (possibly to named projects) or open up a different session.
