Startup Idea: Medication Scanning Software for Healthcare Industry

Startup idea to create a software that allows healthcare professionals to scan medication bottles, automating medication documentation. This will increase human efficiency, and improve workflow in a medical office environment, specifically in roles like medical assistants in cardiology specialty offices.

I work in the healthcare industry specifically in a cardiology specialty office. My main job title is a medical assistant. I am responsible for taking in vitals of the patients as well as recording down their chief complaint and also their medications.

It takes a considerable amount of time to document each medication especially if the patient is on more than five medications and has brought in all the bottles. The doctors tend to get very frustrated at the time that it takes to document this down.

If there could be a software that would allow us to scan in the medications, the staff could work more efficiently at documenting.

The scan could utilize the scan bar on the bottles of the medication or could even scan the name of the medication and automatically input it in. We as the staff can do the rest such as how many times a day and dose amount.

I would be very willing to pay for this software as it would be the first utilized in the medical field.

If there were software for this, it would really help decrease the time spent with patients creating a better work flow.

At times we have patients on 15 different medications. If I could easily scan it in the system, I could move on to do other testing or anything else the doctor requires.
