Startup Idea: Farmers Market EBT Transaction Consolidation Software

Startup idea to develop software that enables urban farmers markets to handle multi-vendor EBT transactions in one go. This software would allow a single transaction per customer, distributing the payments to individual vendors within the transaction.

I work for a nonprofit that runs farmers markets in urban areas. All Food Stamp/EBT transactions are done on a handheld terminal.

There is one terminal available per market because of budget reasons. If a customer buys multiple items from multiple vendors, we have to ring each vendor purchases separately, which severely slows the line for EBT transactions (e.g. if someone buys 8 items from 5 vendors, we have to do 5 transactions).

It would be amazing if the software in the terminals could handle one transaction per customer and allow a breakdown per vendor within the transaction. No such thing exists to our knowledge.
