Startup Idea: Startup Idea for a Comprehensive Security Officer Scheduling Software
I work for the private security services industry (i.e. security officers) Currently there is no functional, easy to use employee scheduling system that can take into account the various factors that accompany scheduling security officers, such as posting employees to non-standard, ever-changing shifts, scheduling employees across multiple locations, with multiple levels of employee and various sub-locations (posts) at a specific location (jobsite).
Some posts may require armed guards where as some posts may require unarmed guards. Some posts may require specific training regimens to be completed before a guard can be scheduled on the post.
Some sites have requirements about how frequent a shift change can be, or how frequent a shift change has to be. I have not found a single unified scheduling solution that can control all of these aspects.
I used to work for a firm that used a program called SSP (Security Scheduling Program) written for MS-DOS in 1989 by the Feick Corporation.
This program did everything mentioned above, and then some, and it was extremely intuitive to learn. I never trained anyone on the program who was unable to pick it up in a week or two. Unfortunately due to the limitations of the software it no longer works on modern hardware.
The next best thing I have found is a program called Guard Xpress, which does everything I need, but it has to be set up and administered by IT, because it involves complicated database administration, and it means that our IT staff must have a dedicated role in the scheduling department beyond just break/fix and helpdesk.
If you create a solution to this problem PLEASE email me!
