Startup Idea: Automated Insect Detection Software for Plant Research
Summary for idea #455
Startup idea to develop an AI-based software that can automatically detect and count the number of times an insect, particularly bees, visits a plant from video footage. It would detect moving objects in close up video footage of plants, potentially saving countless hours of manual effort. The main aim is to find out which plant is more desirable for a bee.

Imagine that you have countless hours of footage of plant closeups. You want to count the number of times a bee (or other insect) visited the plant and perhaps mark the time.
Currently this has to be done but manually watching hours upon hours of footage and it is very difficult.
The plants are relatively motionless so what is needed is to detect moving objects and whether they land on plants. (Remember these are close ups) The goal is to find which plant is more desirable for a bee.
