Startup Idea: Home Management App for First-Time Home Buyers

Summary for idea #463
Startup idea to develop a comprehensive home management app, intended for busy professionals who are first-time home buyers. The app would provide monthly and seasonal household task reminders, manage records of major household item purchases, and give recommendations for scheduled maintenance tasks. The goal is to ease the burden of household management and maintenance with pre-populated, easily accessible checklists and timelines.

I'm a busy single working professional who is also a first-time home buyer. I feel as though I missed in memo on Home Maintenance and household management. Many things I did not learn growing up as far as seasonal tasks or how to track major expenses/ maintenance needs.

For example, my first winter in my home the sprinkler system burst because I did not know it had to be flushed and shut off at the interior sprinkler water line. Another example is I did not know that my furnace had a filter that needed to be changed.

These things may sound simple to individuals who have owned their home but for a newbie I had no idea. I think I grew up also where females were not empowered to manage their own households. I would pay for an app that prompted me monthly with suggested household tasks as well as recommendations for scheduled maintenance. The app could also allow me to store records such as purchase dates for major items as well as serial numbers. Having talked to several other women who work in healthcare as I do and own their own homes, very few of us can juggle the demands of our professional lives in wish we had a home minder system in place and accessible on our phones.

It would be wonderful to have monthly and seasonal checklist as well as yearly- multi-year timelines. I was recently talking to another homeowner who informed me the rule of thumb is to update your kitchen every ten years... I had no idea. The home minder system could include tips like this or, for example, how to prune your shrubs. I ended up trimming some plants down to the base only to learn afterwards that certain shrubs have to be cut at the new growth line, kind of like hair. I ended up destroying about 6 shrubs. It would kind of be a home personal assistant. Thank you for considering my idea for a pre-populated graphic organizational system for my home management.

I can find basic checklist where I put in data entry but that's not what I'm looking for. I found a brier checklist on paper but that doesn't help me manage my life when my life revolves around my mobile.
