Startup Idea: Automated Financial Ratios Compilation Software

Startup idea to develop a customized, user-friendly software for financial ratio analysis. The application should automate the process of retrieving financial metrics from SEC filings for competitive analysis in an efficient and tailor-made manner.

I work in the finance industry, specifically in the treasury department of a construction company.

One difficulty in my job is when we do competitor analysis, we have to manually research the companies' financial filings through the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) site and input their metrics into an excel spreadsheet.

It would be great to have a software that where we can customize what financial ratios we want to see for each company, and have the software automatically pull the numbers needed from the SEC.

Similar software exists, but the problem with them is that they are cumbersome and not very customize-able, so if a software was created that was user-friendly, I would gladly pay for it.
