Startup Idea: Startup Idea for Communication App for Nonverbal Autistic Kids

Startup idea to develop an intuitive communication app for nonverbal autistic kids. The app would allow kids to communicate by touching on pictures to let the app speak the corresponding word. The goal is to create a simple, user-friendly application that caters to this unmet need in the market.

I used to work at a company that made an app for iPad and Android that served as a communication app for nonverbal autistic kids where they could communicate by touching the pictures so the app would speak the word. Unfortunately, the founder/owner got ahead of himself and decided to add a slew of additional features to make it an app for people with all kinds of disabilities, then discontinued the original product. It was too complicated, didn't catch on, and the original customer base hated it.

I think if someone tried something simple like this, it would catch on since the demand was always there, but the company wasn't interested in pursuing an autism-only business.

My experience tells me there isn't anything currently in production like this, it was a unique app which didn't have any serious competition in its niche.
