Startup Idea: Startup Idea for Fraternity Event Management Software

Summary for idea #541
Startup idea to create a group-oriented planning software that allows specific fraternity members to write in a group chat, while all members have access to read. The aim is to improve communication, delegation and event planning for fraternities like Kappa Sigma.

Right now I am a college student, and the closest thing to employment I have is serving as the president of my fraternity (Kappa Sigma). Most of our events, such as Fundraisers, Philanthropy Events, and Social Activities are handled by committees with an overseeing Executive Chair.

One issue that we have is that there is a big chance for miscommunication since their is a lot of delegation and some issues with the entire chapter being able to hear suggestions or add criticism to the way the committees are planning their events.

What I am suggesting is a software that can take a group of members with their respective positions, offer a way to group members into committees, where some members are in multiple committees, and for them to exchange information in a group chat like setting, but where the members in the respective committee can write to the chat, while the entire chapter has access to reading the chat so that the topics can be discussed as a whole in meeting.

The reason the entire chapter cannot post in the chat is then the main committee can be drowned out by comments.

Fraternities like ours have decent budgets, and already pay for member tracking and financial management software so if a good group oriented planning software existed, I am sure many student organizations would jump at a chance to use it.

We have tried using facebook groups, group me, and other options, but all members in respective groups have the option to post. This leads to a lot of chaos and the inability to keep chat organized under the committee. As of right now, there is a lot of micro management to try to keep planning organized and structured but we would like to be less hands on so that our members can grow in leadership experience.
