Startup Idea: DAW Project Files Converter
I am a music composer, mostly for film and broadcast media. In music production, a DAW (digital audio workstation) is a program that is used to record, arrange, edit, mix, or monitor a digitally produced music project. Currently there are a predominance of widely used DAW programs (see: Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton and many more) that have all developed different processes to store and compile data. This data is usually retained in a sort of package or project folder.
At this point in time, to the best of my knowledge, there are no DAW programs between which project data is compatible. That is to say, I cannot take a Logic Pro project file and open it with Pro Tools. This can make it very time consuming and often impossible for musicians, engineers, or studios to work together when they arrange their productions through different DAWs. There is no true standard DAW used in music production. Thus, the lack of cross-compatibility limits creative professionals throughout the industry, due to lack of expertise in a wide array of DAWs that achieve generally the same goal. There is a wide pool of resources on how to transfer DAW projects. Every method is highly tedious, requires high technical expertise, and none are standard.
The solution is software that is able to reliably and efficiently convert DAW project files between different programs. DAWs are an inseparable part of modern music production, and the lack of such an option leaves a hole in the industry. Software that could convert DAW project files between programs would save significant amounts of time in transfer, and would allow anyone with any level of technical skill to use the DAW of their choice without fear of limitation professionally. I was aware of a product that attempted this in the early 2000s, it was called Pro-Convert, and their website was last updated in 2009 (goes to show the longevity of the problem).

I never tried to use it.
I would search (convert DAW projects) or (transfer projects between DAWs).
I have a personal method of transferring projects, which would be long-winded and very boring to describe.
Submitter: I have a lot of ideas and technical skill in regard to this problem. If anything happens, please contact me at (view contact info)
