Startup Idea: Collaborative Publishing Software for Large-Scale Projects

Summary for idea #594
Startup idea to design a user-friendly platform that allows multiple people working globally to make simple edits on PDF versions of large scale publications such as textbooks. The platform should integrate point and click edits, approval and rejection of changes, and alert systems for updates, emulating a GitHub-like process for marking up pages.
Original submission by someone willing to pay to get a problem solved (not AI)

I work in large scale publishing with projects that often have 100+ people working on them at one time. The majority of the employees work from home across the globe.

While there are multiple platforms available, I feel like the right software for making notes and marking up pages in 500+ page textbooks is still not available.

There is a huge range of tech ability amongst the employees making it hard for everyone to mark-up PDFs, upload new versions, and alert others of changes.

I would like to see a website where a PDF book is uploaded, everyone can make simple point and click edits, editors can approve or reject changes, and submit the book to the next round of revisions. Something very similar to the process of GitHub but with an interface that is user friendly to older employees.
