Startup Idea: Scouting Management Software Application
I am a Girl Scout volunteer, both on the troop level and the service unit level. It is a real headache trying to keep up with all of the information necessary for keeping the organization running smoothly on a local level. As volunteers, we have to keep track of all of the following information (all fields apply to both troop level and service unit level):
Contact information for all Girl Scouts, volunteers, and parents
Attendance to meetings and events
Badges earned, when and how they were earned, whether the badges have been purchased, and when they were awarded
Grade levels of all girls, and when each girl will bridge to the next level within the troop
Awards and recognitions earned, what paperwork is involved with each one, when paperwork was submitted, whether award pins have been ordered (if necessary) and when they were awarded
Community service projects and Take Action projects, who is involved with the project, project budget, exactly what is involved with the project, etc
Fundraiser information. Many of us have searched extensively for a program like this which is geared specifically toward scouting organizations, but everything we've found has been an online service with a monthly or yearly subscription. Although some of these services are pretty adequate, it would make things much easier for volunteers to have the information available on their electronic devices without the need for an internet connection to access the needed information.
As yet, we all find different solutions to keeping up with information, from notebooks and planners, to spreadsheets, files, and various combinations of paper and electronic organization.
