Startup Idea: Startup Idea: IT Freelancer Platform for Onsite Tech Tasks
I am an Operations Manager for a Business IT company. We service Small-Medium sized businesses (10-250 employees) most of which are local but we also have customers in 13 other states than our own.
We have an in house help desk that handles a lot of support requests remotely, but there is often a need for a technician to go onsite for a very low tech task (example, delivering/ setting up a PC, or plugging in a new monitor).
When we send someone out to perform these duties, it is ALWAYS more costly than what we charge and losing support reps has an impact on our help desk.
There are a lot of IT companies our size (10-25 employees) that could really use access to IT freelancers that would be willing to perform these tasks for us and could benefit from doing such by monetizing their "downtime".
Having this type of service would allow us to confidently expand well beyond our region without having to search and vet local subcontractors. I am assuming that a software platform would be the best way for this service to exist.
It could operate in a similar way to other outsource gig platforms such as odesk, except it would be specialized to cater to our market. Yes. Technology courier service.
