Startup Idea: Advanced Selection Tool for Photo Editing
I'm a color corrector/photo editor. I exclusively use Photoshop. Have for years.
Often we have to use the pen tool to separate pieces of an image from others to correct and adjust those sections individually. For example, sometimes I have to select the red hood of a car, but not necessarily the rest of it.
You can use the magic wand but its selections are rough at best, and if there are pixels nearby that are a similar color, it tries to select those, too.
The most effective selection comes from tracing each section with a pen tool. For a car it isn't so bad. For a brush, or for human hair, it's a nightmare.
There needs to be a tool within Photoshop, or even its own software, that effectively and efficiently can select these sections cleanly and smoothly.
There would have to be a lot of intuition on the part of the software, which may be too advanced. But if this were developed, it would take off like you wouldn't believe with photo editors, graphic designers, etc.
