Startup Idea: Software for Organizing Video Game Texture Maps
I am currently studying my masters for game design (video game development). Development of a video game involves working in a multitude of software packages aimed at various disciplines. One discipline involves that of 'texture mapping'- which is a method for defining high frequency detail, surface texture, or colour information on a computer-generated graphic or 3D model. This is done by creating texture maps.
My experience in developing video games suggests that the organisation of texture maps is a task that could be reduced (in terms of time and effort) with a software package that takes all associated files (texture maps) and packages them with appropriate naming conventions (pertaining to type of texture map) into one orderly folder designated by that user. Something similar to this is available in a software package named Quixel. This is a procedure involved in the exporting process (packages all generated maps - created within the software - into one organised folder with naming conventions.) However, a stand-alone software package only focusing on this specific feature doesn't exist as far as I'm aware.
