Startup Idea: Online Balanced Scorecard Software for Small to Midsize Businesses

Startup idea to develop an online Balanced Scorecard solution for small to mid-size companies. It aims to create a centrally managed platform to track company's KPIs, goals and benchmarks. The solution would allow creation and editing of data into a database, and the output would be a balanced scorecard or a series of cascading scorecards.

I do consulting for small businesses and one of the challenges many face is to be able to track the current status of their company in relation to established benchmarks and goals.

I would like to see an online Balanced Scorecard solution for small to mid size companies. A balanced scorecard can be a very effective decision making tool.

Used to monitor the status of important KPIs, unfortunately most companies do not have the time and resources to create a centralized solution.

I would envision an online form that would allow people to create and edit data into a database. People could set up things like the metric, target, data format, owner(s), polarity (positive is good/bad) via some type of admin console. Data could then be entered/imported by assigned personnel.

The output would be a balanced scorecard or even a series of cascading scorecards. This would eliminate the need to invest a lot of money into programming/database management.
