Startup Idea: Bicycle and Car Mechanic Diagnostic App

Summary for idea #664
Startup idea to develop a user-friendly app or web platform that enables customers to self-diagnose their bicycle or car issues through a diagram-based and questionnaire system. This software will streamline the work schedule for bike or car mechanics, help pre-order required parts, and provide accurate repair quotes. The startup will work closely with a bicycle mechanic business to test and refine the application.

I work as a Bicycle Mechanic for my own company which employs 6 people, we have been operating for 6 years and have 3 mechanics working in the workshop full time.

A big problem for us is that we rarely know what the problem is with a bike before it comes in to our workshop, the customer rarely knows what the issue is but if they DID we would be able to schedule our work and our mechanics time much more efficiently as well as pre-order any parts we require thus we could fix and return the bike to the customer in little time.

The ideal solution to this is for us to have either an app which runs on a smartphone or an app built in to our website through which our customers could diagnose the problem with their bike and then book it in with us. I would imagine that this would be done by means of a diagram and by asking a series of questions in a flowchart system allowing us to accurately diagnose the problem as well as give an accurate quote for repair.

This model could work among all bike shops but more importantly could easily be converted to work for CAR mechanics and garages.

I have some rough outlines of how this would work, I have all the ideas as well as the knowledge, I simply cannot program and do not have the resources to develop this idea otherwise I would have launched it already :)

I am happy to work with you should you wish to create this. Yes, There is only blogs and you have to search and search, also the blogs are highly technical so would be difficult for the layman to understand. There are some youtube videos but they don't show how to diagnose the problem only how to fix it - for this one needs the tools which our customers don't have.

We currently have to ask our customers a series of questions on the phone or by email or on Facebook - its time consuming and a waste of the mechanics time and our company money.
