Startup Idea: Child Car Seat Sensor Startup Idea

Startup idea to develop a software integrated sensor for child car seats that implements alerts on the car dashboard or a mobile phone app when a child is in the car seat. This will help in reducing the chances of forgetting the child in the car especially when they are out of the driver's direct range of view.

I actually realized recently that there is a real life problem that software could be used to solve with regard to child car seats.

There have been several well publicized incidents where children were forgotten and left in cars and died.

This is because the current designs required for seats for small children have to be placed behind the driver, out of their direct range of view, and for babies they have to be placed facing toward the back, with a seat back higher than the baby's head, so even if you look in the rear view mirror you cannot see if the child is in the seat.

(Sorry if I am making you tech bros uncomfortable!)

So I think what needs to happen is the development of a sensor so that if there is a child in the seat there is a red light on your dashboard, or maybe on an app on your cell phone, or both.

So if it is beeping and flashing at you it makes it harder to forget that the baby is there, even if you are exhausted and the baby is sleeping. I don't have the tech knowhow to actually do this, though I can see how it could be done. The old fashioned way was to put the baby car seat in the passenger seat next to the driver but that is not allowed now.
