Startup Idea: Tip Management Software for Businesses

Startup idea to develop a software that tracks, splits and manages tips within a business environment. The software will extract data from a point of sale system, calculate the tips received during a shift, and divide them among the employees who worked during that time. This system will simplify the accounting process and ensure fair distribution.

I work in small bakery that is growing fairly rapidly, opening two new locations and beginning wholesale for a large sports franchise all within the last 6 months after opening in 2011.

We face a problem with tipping out our hourly employees. The majority of tips for our baristas/cashiers come in the form of credit card tips, and we have tried everything from having whoever is at the register (we use square) get the tip to dividing the total tips for the week by hours worked (not very popular for those who work the busier weekend shifts). Basically, we need a software that tracks the tips earned during a persons shift and divides it by the people who are working during that time. That system works, but it takes almost an hour to do it all by hand.

The software would rip the data from square and then spit out the employee's tips for the week, making it easier to keep track of their money for general purposes, accounting, and taxing.
