Startup Idea: All-In-One Transcription Audio Enhancement Software
I work as a transcriptionist, mostly of audio from television programs or college courses, but sometimes of interviews.
A really big problem we have with transcription is in the low quality of the playback of audio. We can use various individual programs to help a little but there's never anyone single software solution for increasing quality, primarily in reducing hiss and other extraneous noises.
As of right now you can download the audio, process it through other software, then use transcription software like Express Scribe, but you can't get better quality audio AS you transcribe. This would probably also be very helpful for auto-transcription done by computers.
Reduce hiss, speed variance, and other anomalies and protect the integrity of the audio. Something like Express Scribe that automatically improves audio quality in basic ways before you even start playback would be a timesaver.
If it took, say, 15 seconds to process the audio, but saved me 60 seconds of listening over and over again to determine what was said, that would be a net savings of 45 seconds, which means more time for me to do more transcription and earn more money.
(Transcription is paid piecemeal, not salaried. The more transcriptions you do, the more money you make.)
Yes, I would pay for all-in-one software of this type.
