Startup Idea: Subscription Management Software for Indie Publications

Summary for idea #68
Startup idea to develop an inexpensive, user-friendly and flexible subscription and circulation database software targeted at independent businesses such as small magazines, local newspapers and niche publications. The software can replace costly alternatives that offer unnecessary extra features, or inefficient homemade databases.

I work in magazine publishing. We are a small indie publication. I think there is a gap in the marketplace for circulation database software. We haven't been able to find a solution (in-house software or hiring a third party company) to keep track of magazine subscriptions that doesn't cost a ton of money.

It really should be a fairly simple name-and-address database but companies charge $8000+ a year for software with tons of bells and whistles that we'd never use.

I think there is a place in the market for a simple, inexpensive, flexible, user-friendly database for magazine/newspaper type subscriptions.

Something aimed at independent businesses, little local newspapers and niche magazines. Currently we are using a homemade database written in Microsoft Access but we'd love to switch to something where we didn't have to custom-create every single report, query, etc.
