Startup Idea: Community Property Management Software

Summary for idea #724
Startup idea to develop a user-friendly database for community organizations to input, track and manage issues surrounding abandoned or disruptive properties. The software should allow the insertion of various property details, including images, status, and actions taken. The data should be viewable on a map, and allow easy tracking and closing of cases.

I work for a small community organization that is mostly volunteers with three full time staff. Since we depend highly on our volunteers, there is often a high turn over rate with individuals moving, availability changes, etc.

In the community organization we try to tackle the issues surrounding abandoned or disruptive properties in our neighborhood. When there is a home on a street that is considered abandoned or is classified as "disruptive" meaning police were called to the property more than 3 times in one month, we work with our local municipality and police to address the issues. The problem is with the high turnover rate we often lose the running excel list that is generated as well as the status of the property in question (i.e scheduled for demo, etc).

A great idea for a software would be if there was a database created to input the information about a specific property that has the capability to generate and pin to a larger map (to be able to see cluster of properties on a specific street, etc.) When you click on the pin it would be able to give a brief summary of the property as well as show any uploaded photos.

The information you can put is when the property was put in the database, by whom, why, uploaded photos, and status. It would be nice to also have the option to "close out" open cases and queue them. We just utilize a shared excel document but have not found it to be very user friendly.
