Startup Idea: Fitness Tracker Improvement for Personal Trainers

Summary for idea #730
Startup idea to redesign fitness trackers for personal trainers and those seeking to lose weight. The new design would provide more accurate tracking by comparing the user's performance to their previous workouts, rather than relying solely on heart rate and estimated calorie burn metrics.

I work in the fitness industry as a personal trainer.

Specifically, I teach group classes in which people are trying to lose weight. Right now, we have fitness trackers that tell people, as best they can, how well they are doing by measuring heart rate, and getting an estimated calorie burn.

The issue with these, is that they are notoriously inaccurate due to various reasons.

What people need to track instead of this, that the variables that cause the other metrics to be wrong in which will not matter here, is tracking them as compared to how they were doing in their previous sessions.

So for example, instead of inaccurately measuring just calories, we should have them compare their average caloric burn this Monday, as compared to the average of Mondays, at this time, over the last month.

Then tell them on their screen or wrist that they are 10% under their expected goal. Have their goal reflect a percentage better than last time, and this alert will then push the person to do better each time. This does two things, it pushes them to that next level, and also gives them a comparison to themselves in real time.
