Startup Idea: YouTube Kids content control app
The YouTube Kids app is terrible and allows the kids to get into content that is inappropriate. To make matters worse YouTube Kids added a feature where parents can pick their own content (whitelist) but it's ridiculously difficult to use:
-
Anytime you want to add a new channel for your kid you need to log in to your own YouTube account.
-
It only shows content that is deemed appropriate for YouTube kids, yet there are many great channels that are perfect for kids but are not accessible via youtube kids.
-
Even if you can find a channel, and then select it, often times it does not show up for the kid!
The ideal solution would be:
-
An app that let you search for any YouTube channel that you can see on the desktop, and then add that as an appropriate channel to the app.
-
The app would only allow a parent to select the channels (ie parent challenge screen to edit).
-
(optional bonus) The app can suggest possible channels based on kids age
-
The app is subscription based ($5/month)
-
The app would be available on desktop, mobile, Samsung TV's etc.
-
You would login to your subscription from any device and the kids settings would instantly be ready to go.
