Startup Idea: YouTube Kids content control app

Summary for idea #780
Startup idea to create an application that allows parents to easily control the YouTube content accessible to their children. The app would be subscription-based and available on various devices. It would let parents search for any YouTube channel and add them to a whitelist, with the option of suggesting channels based on the child's age.

The YouTube Kids app is terrible and allows the kids to get into content that is inappropriate. To make matters worse YouTube Kids added a feature where parents can pick their own content (whitelist) but it's ridiculously difficult to use:

  1. Anytime you want to add a new channel for your kid you need to log in to your own YouTube account.

  2. It only shows content that is deemed appropriate for YouTube kids, yet there are many great channels that are perfect for kids but are not accessible via youtube kids.

  3. Even if you can find a channel, and then select it, often times it does not show up for the kid!

The ideal solution would be:

  1. An app that let you search for any YouTube channel that you can see on the desktop, and then add that as an appropriate channel to the app.

  2. The app would only allow a parent to select the channels (ie parent challenge screen to edit).

  3. (optional bonus) The app can suggest possible channels based on kids age

  4. The app is subscription based ($5/month)

  5. The app would be available on desktop, mobile, Samsung TV's etc.

  6. You would login to your subscription from any device and the kids settings would instantly be ready to go.
