Startup Idea: Cost Tracking Software for Restaurants
I have been working as a chef for approximately ten years now. One common theme that I see in most kitchens that I work in, is that there really isn't any software that I've found that allows kitchen staff/management/owners track average costs per customer served. What I mean by this, is that when a customer comes into a restaurant, I would like to be able to see how much overhead goes into each customer. This could really help business owners with being able to better stay on target with budgeting and cost effectiveness.
One thing that I feel that software like is could resolve, is by allowing business owners to accurately see how much they spend in overhead during any given day, and then be able to adjust their menu price points accordingly, so that they know how much profit they're making against their expenses.
Personally, I feel that this would be very useful to business owners so that they can better track profits, losses, expenses etc. I know I would appreciate having knowledge of all overhead expenses (per customer and per diem) against what I'm bringing in so that I can run my business as effectively as possible. I have looked for solutions like this via app stores and websites. Most search results for tracking software end up bringing up programs that basically only act as a spreadsheet that you fill in manually. I would want something that tracks what's being rung in automatically when a customer comes to the restaurant, and pits that against overhead.
