Startup Idea: Translation Software for Immigrant Resource Center
I once worked in a resource center for Spanish-speaking immigrants living in the United States. A problem for many immigrants (Spanish-speaking or otherwise) is that they sometimes receive important mail or other documents that are in English and that they cannot understand sufficiently. So, when I was working in the resource center, I would occasionally receive a document about a rather sensitive matter (e.g., a legal issue), and the client would need my help in explaining what the letter meant. What would be ideal is if the letter could be scanned or photographed, and then submitted to software that could create a very accurate Spanish translation that could then be printed out for the client. In addition to the need for high accuracy, note that the sensitive nature of the material would imply that the software must be very secure and that the privacy of the translated material must be guaranteed.
