Startup Idea: Startup Idea: Baby Changing Stations Locator App
As a new mom in the US, I have found many interesting, yet unexpected, road blocks in parenthood. However, only one makes me so frustrated I could (and have on one occasion) scream at the top of my lungs: BABY CHANGING STATIONS. This should be a no-brainer because at one point we ALL wore diapers of some kind and our caretakers HAD to change us. Yet year after year there is nothing to help us pitiful parents find, describe and rate changers in the area. Software (specifically an app) would be tremendous in this effort. Target audience would not only be new moms, but men (ask a single dad how hard it is to find a place to change their baby) and also grandparents and caretakers. Let me give you a REAL scenario where this app could have saved me so much trouble: I've had a serious stomach bug ravage my house. I'm finally feeling more on the mend, when my infant son is showing signs of being ill. My husband is out of town, and my parents are on vacation. We live in the deep country and i was out of supplies, I knew that taking him out was risky but i had no choice. So I load my son and his diaper bag up and head to pick up electrolyte drinks. Low and behold he completely explodes his diaper in the middle of the store. I rush him to the nearest bathroom to find a changer, but there is none. I run to the next store in the strip mall and ask if they have one, but they do not. 3 stores latter and i'm out of options. It was an emergency and I had to get him cleaned. I had to use paper towels and my shirt to line the bathroom floor to change him. I literally was changing him in tears I was so angry. Furiously I gave a piece of my mind to the unfortunate sales woman in the store and stomped out.
If there were and app for this, I would pay up to 2.99 (and gift it to EVERY new mom I know) if met these requirements: 1 - allow me to use my location to track a changing station near me. 2 - describe in bathroom location of changer (in a stall, out in the open, in a private nook) 3 - specifies if it is located in a women's, men's, and/or family(unisex) restroom 4 - allows users to overall rate the bathroom on cleanliness, well stocked, etc. 5 - allows users to create an account and suggest places that can be verified by other users
If you know ANYONE who has had a child in the US, ask them, "Have you ever had a problem finding a changing table for your child?" be prepared for some interesting stories of desperation. YOU can help solve this problem. Please help.
