I am a manager for a fast food restaurant.(Wendy's) We have a system (WeLearn)in which tracks training through online courses for each and every station in the restaurant. Each station has its own online course. Each online course has what is called an observation checklist. A manager with access has to go into a back office computer and check each item off that checklist off in order for that employee to get credit for that particular course. Credit for the course is important because those courses that are completed come up in reports. The reports are necessary because each store gets labor credits for each set of orientation courses that are completed. That being said, it is difficult for the manager to make observations on the floor and run back and forth to check each item off as being complete. In a world where we are shifting toward going paperless, an app that could be loaded to a mobile notebook or even an iPad would serve as an excellent solution. The manager could load the app up, log in, select the employees name. His or her profile with their list of completed and uncompleted courses at the ready. The manager could then easily go down line by line and make observations on the fly. The manager should be able to check each item off as he witnesses it being completed. Once complete the app would sync with the website and all of the information would be instantly uploaded and saved, showing timely completion of each task pretty much in real time. This would be a boon to managers everywhere. It would be a great time saver and it takes away all excuses for managers not getting these checklists done, and all but eliminates the temptation of "pencil-whipping" the checklist dishonestly.
