Startup Idea: Automated Employee Vacation Reservation System

Startup idea to develop a system that automates vacation leave reservation for employees. It would allow employees to input their preferred dates and reasons etc, while the system handles the approval based on various factors. The program will also include a public calendar for overall visibility and modifications if needed.

I work as a Lab administrator. I handle the scheduling of employees among other responsibilities. I have recently had a major problem among the employees due to the miscommunication concerning the vacation leave. Employees argue about who gets which month for vacation. It has led to very heated conversations with a conflict in the schedules that were reserved for several employees.

I was hoping to hire a programmer to create a program to automatically reserve vacation leave for each employee. Maybe each employee will be given a form to fill out for dates that they would prefer, reasons why, etc. Then based on factors like employee performance, previous vacation time taken, amount of time off, etc. the program will grant the dates that the all the employees deserve. The program will also have a main calendar where the all employees can see the vacation dates that are open and if any changes need to be made will input the changes in the program and check if the dates can be granted.

This will save a lot of time at the company and will prevent any arguments or miscommunication. We have tried to find a solution but need to use employee hours which can be more useful and profitable somewhere else.

Have not used any search terms. Just use email which is CC:'d to designated in-charge of the matter.

Have setup this pln but have yet to see if plan is effective. One concern is if responsibility has to be transferred if the effectiveness of our plan will still work.

If a program was used to handle the matter there will be no downtime in the plan.
