Startup Idea: Qualitative Data Analysis Software for Research Projects

Startup idea to develop a software program aimed at project managers for qualitative research projects. The software would analyze qualitative data (specifically, transcripts of conversations) and identify patterns, recurring words or ideas to generate conclusions, thereby saving time and enhancing efficiency.

I am a project manager for qualitative research projects at a marketing research company.

We use qualitative methods (focus groups, in-depth interviews, shop-alongs, etc.) to solve problems for large businesses.

A big pain point in my daily work is taking all of the data we've collected which, in my cases, (qualitative) is transcripts of conversations with people, and generating conclusions from that data.

In quantitative research, this is easy. You take the data and perform a bunch of calculations.

In qualitative research, I have to read through every single transcript, then figure out where there are any patterns to conclude which attitudes/beliefs/behaviors were common among participants.

This takes a lot of time! I would pay for a software program that could do this work - specifically, take the data I give it (conversations) and look for repeating words or ideas to help me generate conclusions about the data.

It would save me a lot of time. If the software could generate those conclusions for me, I could more quickly use them to develop a final report for my client.
