Startup Idea: PDF to Word Converter and mturk Income Tracker Software

Summary for idea #965
Startup idea to develop a comprehensive software that aids in the legal industry by properly converting PDF files into editable Word documents, saving the hassle of remaking the forms. Additionally, the software is aimed to serve the mturk users by keeping track of their completed HITs, outstanding income, and providing a searchable database for user convenience. The ultimate goal is making daily tasks more efficient and manageable.

  1. I work in the legal industry (2a), and I do mturk on the side for additional/supplemental income.

2a) A huge problem in my legal job is the inability to transfer downloaded pdf forms into Word documents properly. I have tried many ways of doing this, but where it's very simple to save something as a pdf document, it's amazingly difficult (and often useless) to save something from pdf to doc because it ends up screwing everything up so much that it's faster for me to simply remake forms on my own. Remaking printed forms or forms only available in pdf format is amazingly time-consuming. I don't know if this is something that could be fixed with better transfer software, but I'm pretty sure it could be.

2b) On the flip side of things, I'd love a program that synced with mturk to make completed HITS available for download to a program of some sort for keeping track of the income and what's still outstanding. It would also need to be searchable.

3a) I would, and I'd definitely try to convince my work to pay for it!

3b) YES! I would definitely pay for something like this!! (Please make this happen!)

4a) Honestly, this would just save me a TON of time in the office. Retyping forms in Word (or even remaking them as a pdf to make them fillable) takes forever.

4b) As we know, some HIT requesters ask that you not complete something if you've done it before. Currently, I have to click on each day to double check whether I have or not because I don't recall the names of every requester and all their survey titles. Having a place to find that information quickly would be fabulous. Right now, I'm using a spreadsheet, but it's all manual and I have to fix stuff on it every day when older HITs are belatedly approved. This could also double to help people with tax time for reporting their income from mturk HITs.
