Startup Idea: Archaeological Data Collection and Reporting Software
I am an archaeologist in Ontario Canada.
Over the years archaeological survey work has grown, and so has the legislation and law regarding it's practice.
I have seen a lot of standardization for the methods and recording of data, usually for the sole purpose of creating standardized reports for the Ministry of Culture.
A software solution to field level data collection and collaboration into reports would be amazing for the industry, and improve access to all information. Currently, professionals use Excel and GIS mapping software.
It is messy, slow and allows for too many differences depending on who is preparing the information.
Archaeology has become a multi million dollar industry in Canada, and nobody yet has tightened up the computer side of the business.
It would benefit us all to have excellent software to record, research and build reports with.
